SHOOTING and DEFENSIVE Clinic held at Pope John Paul II

TNLAX is excited to offer a SHOOTING AND DEFENSIVE clinic!  The clinic is designed for attackers to focus solely on shooting for the first hour, while defenders focus on footwork and defensive drills.  In the second hour we will bring both groups together for attackers to focus on shooting with defenders on and off ball.  Defenders will focus on defending attackers inside the 8 meter!

The SHOOTING clinic will allow for attackers to fine tune their shooting before the 2012 lacrosse season.  Come out and learn from TNLAX head coach, Megan Riley Clark who assisted the US U-19 team this summer to win the gold medal in Germany. Clark is a 1999 graduate of James Madison University, where she was a 3 time All-American Attacker on the Dukes Division I Lacrosse Team. Megan's freshman year she was the Colonial Athletic Association - Rookie of the Year, followed by CAA Player of the Year her senior year. She was also JMU's Female Athlete of the Year in 1999. Megan was a member of the US Developmental squad for 2 years. During her 4 year career at JMU, Megan helped her team to the NCAA Playoffs 3 years in a row, falling short her senior year of a Final Four appearance. She is JMU's all time leader in assists. Megan was named to the 25th Colonial Athletic Conference Silver Anniversary Team in December 2009 and was inducted into the JMU Athletics Hall of Fame this fall.  Clark is the head coach at Pope John Paul II High School.

The DEFENSIVE clinic will be led by TNLAX assistant coaches Dana Messinger and Sasha Cielak, both are former standout defenders from Vanderbilt University.  Dana Messinger has been playing lacrosse since 4th grade. She was a 4 year letter winner on the Vanderbilt Commodores lacrosse team and was a member of the 2004 Final Four team. This was Vanderbilt's first and only appearance to the Final Four in the lacrosse program's history.  Dana is an assistant lacrosse coach at Ensworth.  Sasha Cielak was a member of the Commodores lacrosse team where she started all 4 years as a defender. Cielak becomes the second Commodore to earn first-team All-America recognition. A defender from Sparks, Md., Sasha was named an All-American for the third time in her career. She was a member on the first team American Lacrosse Conference for 3 years. Vanderbilt's top matchup defender, Sasha is the Commodores' all-time leader in caused turnovers. She was a Tewaaraton nominee (comparable to a Heisman nominee) in 2008 as Vanderbilt posted a school-record 13 victories. She is currently the head coach of the Brentwood Lacrosse team.
